The Model 680 Sovereign is a Supermid-size business jet developed by Cessna. It is the second largest member of the Citation line in terms of take-off weight, along with the Citation X having approximately 6000 lbs more in takeoff weight.
The Sovereign is considered a transcontinental aircraft, being able to fly from Los Angeles to Hawaii. Avionics include the Honeywell Primus Epic glass cockpit avionics suite and a dual Honeywell FMZ2000 FMS units.
It is well known for its short field performance due to a moderately swept high aspect ratio wing, and 92 knot Vref speed. It was shown to the public for the first time in 1998, at the NBAA exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Sovereign typically holds 8 passengers in a standard configuration, with a maximum capacity of 12, in addition to the crew of 2. The Sovereign flew for the first time in February, 2002, with FAA certification awarded in June of 2004, and customer deliveries starting later that same year.
